A DETERGENT blending and packing company has been fined £4,000 by Wigan magistrates for polluting a stream with detergent causing foam up to 12ft high on Newton Lake.
Chilwood Limited, of Windsor Road, Ashton-in-Makerfield, pleaded guilty to polluting Millingford Brook - which runs into the lake - in June last year.
As well as being fined, the company was ordered to pay £520.64 costs to the Environment Agency, which brought the prosecution.
