Wigan Tech 12 Bold Miners 14 BOLD took a giant stride towards promotion in this top-of-the-table clash.
Both teams tackled courageously in the first half. Bold opened the scoring, however, with a Darren Anders penalty.
But. Tech fought back to grab a converted try before the break.
After the break Bold began to pile on the pressure through forwards Nick Joseph, Jason Travis and Chris Keane.
Good approach work by Dave Scott and Alan Hockenhall led to Gary Talbot racing down the right flank to sent Mark Rigby in at the corner.
But the Wiganers were in no mood to give in and they regained the lead with a converted try.
Player-coach Wayne Graham brought on substitutes Dave Davies, Brian Connaire and John Travis to bolster their attack.
And it had immediate effect as Graham dummied his way over past four defenders.
With only two minutes left a scrum was formed 10 metres from the Miners' line. A neat pass from scrum-half Dave Scott found stand-off Darren Anders and he sidestepped the home defence and rounded the full-back in a 90-yard race to the line.
Gary Talbot took the Grundy Excavations man of the match award and he was supported by Nick Joseph and Alan Hockenhall.
