HOT-SHOT John Daniels stunned his playing partner when he knocked up a sensational 147 break.

The 29-year-old snooker professional was in top form as he rattled up the maximum during a practice match.

John, who plays for Bury and District Snooker League, was playing teammate Christopher Pursglove when he achieved the incredible feat.

He said: "I have had 11 maximums previously, but this was the first time I have had a witness to see it.

"It is the perfect pre-season tonic for me, with my first competition in two weeks.

"Chris didn't say much. He just sat and watched it all happening."

John, who has also notched 500 century breaks in his career, had a nervous finale when, after potting the final pink, the cue ball came to rest in the jaws of one of the top pockets.

He still managed to pot the difficult black and avoided the 'in-off' into the middle pocket.

John, of Redvales, Bury, has been receiving some expert coaching in recent months - from former world champion John Spencer.

"I met him through a friend and he has been giving me a few helpful tips to improve my game," he added.

As John prepares for the new season, he is looking for another helping hand - this time with sponsorship.
