AS a parent governor of St Silas' C E Junior School, Blackburn, I was a little disappointed that your article (LET, January 29) did not place greater emphasis on the extremely high standard of teaching in the school.
The Ofsted inspectors stated that there were no unsatisfactory lessons and that more than 30 per cent of teaching was 'very good or excellent'.
It was also pleasing, yet unusual, to note that children's progress was at least 'good' in every subject of the National Curriculum.
I do feel that, in the circumstances, it would have been appropriate to mention these statistics.
