CARING parents Sharon and Phil Forrest are raising cash for the organisation which supported them through their daughter's meningitis ordeal.
Three-year-old Sammy Forrest battled back from the brink of death after being struck down with the brain bug last year.
Her grateful mum and dad, of Central Avenue, Oswaldtwistle, are holding a fund-raising night for the Meningitis Trust, as well as the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital, Pendlebury, where she was treated.
Mum Sharon, said the family want to raise £1,000 to thank the trust and hospital for everything they did for Sammy.
She said: "The trust laid on lifts for us to the hospital and gave us leaflets explaining the condition.
"The event is to give something back for the care she had and a thank you for saving Sammy's life.
"We also want to show other people with meningitis that Sammy was just three and she fought back and survived."
The fund-raising night takes place at King Street Working Men's Club, Accrington, on April 29, starting at 7.30pm.
It will feature singers and a raffle.
Sharon is now appealing for local businesses and individuals to donate prizes for the raffle.
Brave Sammy is now back to full health and is attending playgroup again.
She still has to go to Blackburn Royal Infirmary for regular check-ups to see if the scars left by the illness need further treatment.
Sharon added: "You wouldn't think she had been so ill.
"She is back to normal again and enjoying life."
Anyone wanting to donate a raffle prize can contact Sharon and Phil on 01254 607182.
