POLICE are warning residents to lock up their bikes after the theft of thousands of pounds worth of cycles.
Thieves have stolen 19 top-of-the-range mountain bikes worth an average of £300 each from the Henthorn area of Clitheroe over the last week.
The bikes were taken from sheds or outhouses and sometimes expensive tools were also taken.
DC Alan Procter said: "The thieves have been operating since February 8 and 19 good-quality mountain bikes have been taken.
"We are talking about thousands of pounds worth of property and we are asking residents to be extra-vigilant.
Information about the thefts can be given to Clitheroe Police in confidence on 01200 443344.
