over A LAW firm is being told it could face legal action for putting up a sign without permission.
Blackburn with Darwen Council may issue an enforcement notice on Farleys to take down an advertising sign on its building at Richmond Terrace, Blackburn.
The council received a complaint that the small sign had been put up on an area which was previously a "bricked up" window opening.
Although the sign is permitted under Town and Country Planning Regulations, the building is listed and signs need special permission.
A report to the planning sub-committee says no application for Listed Building Consent has been received.
It says: "In view of this, enforcement action is considered the only option to secure the removal of the advertisement panel."
Practice manager Andrew Taylor said the firm would defend its right to keep the sign.
He said it seemed the council was extending its crackdown on A-boards to any company which advertised in their windows or on their buildings.
"We will defend our position vigorously and will be looking for support from everybody in RIchmond Terrace," he said.
The committee meets on Thursday.
