THE RATE of business failures in the North West at the end of last year has continued into January. New figures published by accountants Deloitte and Touche show there were 13 receivership and administration appointments last month, the same as in December.
Insolvency partner John Wilson said: "Businesses should be prudent with their forward business plans in the light of the continued strong pound and the forecast slowdown in economic growth."
Nationally, the total for receiverships fell in January by five per cent to 119, compared with 125 in December.
