DELIGHTED football great Sir Tom Finney is looking forward to a slap-up meal at a Preston pub named in his honour.
In the latest tribute, the former Tavern Fayre at Broughton will be called Tom Cobleigh's Phantom Winger - the North End legend's nickname in the 50s.
Sir Tom said: "I was approached about a month ago and was happy to oblige. I'm very proud. It's a nice gesture - a little different. I'm sure it will be appreciated by the older football fans in the area."
The 75-year-old, who earned the name for the way he used to take on defenders with ease, said he would visit the pub when it opens in March.
It is the first venture in Lancashire for pub operator Tom Cobleigh and will be family-orientated with an indoor activity area for children.
Managing director Derek Mapp said: "We always try to salute local heroes and as Sir Tom Finney was one of the top players in the world, we're delighted he has agreed to have a pub associated with him."
