REGARDING the letter in last week's Journal headed 'Wild figures on homeless'. This is a blatant example of juggling figures. The councillor did not get the point at all, as the letter on the same page regarding Plank Lane confirms.
The council is closing its eyes to problems, not working hard to "portray a positive image of the town".
If there are bad elements in any area, the council's answer is to board up any vacated properties and then totally forget them.
In Westleigh there is one street of 42 council properties - 14 of which have stood empty for up to a year. My calculations make that 33% not 2.4% as stated by the councillor, unless of course he wants to take credit for all the streets that don't cause the council any hassle. But that will be until the same problems occur in these places.
