A VISITOR to the East Lancashire Railway was King of the Castle in more ways than one.
Generous Frank Rothwell parted with £1,500 for the privilege of riding up the line to Rawstentall and back on the footplate of the locomotive, Nunney Castle.
Joining him for his journey on Saturday was pop mogul and steam enthusiast Pete Waterman.
Mr Waterman had compered the Radio 2 charity auction for Children In Need which resulted in Frank forking out the small fortune for the trip.
And while Frank, whose brother built Ramsbottom Station, was enjoying the feel of the wind in his face, his family were tucking in to a delicious champagne lunch in one of the saloon carriages.
