HODGSON High School is one of a few schools in the county which offers GNVQs as well as GCSEs.
The school offers a GNVQ in leisure and tourism which prepares students for careers in the Blackpool area and afield.
As part of this course students have to organise an event and put it on as one of their assignments.
Paula Hunter, Louise Cope, Louise Dransfield and Laura Johnson decided to stage a theatre event.
They wanted to bring in a theatre group which specialised in presenting murder mysteries.
In order to get a good mark for this assignment, the students had to book the group, prepare the school hall, provide advertising and sell tickets.
The girls sold nearly 100 tickets at £4 for adults and £2 for each child and from their proceeds they had to pay the theatre group.
The profit they made of more than £100 is to be presented to the Princess Diana Memorial Fund.
Louise Cope said the success of the event made them all feel more confident while Laura was surprised at how many people attended the event.
"We all worked really hard as a group to complete the event," added Lousie Dransfield.
"We enjoyed the planning and the actual evening."
