West Sutton 32 Latchford 20 WEST Sutton overcame Latchford to record their 11th straight win.
They started well and after only five minutes opened the scoring with a well worked try under the posts by Craig Jones, converted by Ste Barr.
Any thoughts that this was going to be an easy game were dispelled as Latchford put West Sutton under pressure resulting in a penalty goal.
West Sutton tried hard to get back at Latchford but sloppy handling and indicipline cost them dear. Towards half-time Latchford scored a try in the corner well converted to go in at 14-6 up.
After a half-time pep talk West Sutton settled into their stride resulting in a well worked move by Willy Johnson sending prop Willburn racing in under the post, Ste Barr converted 12-14.
A kick through by Latchford was fielded by wingman Spencer deep in his own half. He set off across field to line up with stand-off Ste Barr who then beat five defenders on a glorious 80-yard run ending in a try under the posts. Martin Leyland converted. West Sutton where now playing some wonderful rugby and a quick play the ball on the half way line caught Latchford out and good work by Willy Johnson opened the gap for centre Leyland to run 40-yards to score a try converted by Ste Barr.
Latchford then came back strongly and a good move resulted in their loose-forward scoring by the post, the conversion making the score 26-20 to West Sutton.
Following a good kick by M Leyland Latchford's winger spilled the ball. West's loose forward Gary Hammon picked up well and held off three would be tacklers to score in the corner well converted from the touch line by Ste Barr to make the final score 32-20.
The Reprise man of the match award went to Ste Barr well supported by Gary Hammon, Craig Simm and S McNamara.
