A CLEVELEYS youngster is celebrating after winning a top line dancing award at international championships held in the United States.
Aiden Montgomery, of Beach Road, Cleveleys, and a student a Blackpool Sixth Form College, took away the world junior teen intermediate line dancing champion award in the contest held in Tennessee.
In the competition Aiden, 17, who only took up line dancing two and a half years ago, had to perform three line dances in front of a tough panel of judges and was up against world-class talent.
He performed Rompin' Stompin', Girls' Night Out and Zydeco Old Lady as well as showing judges his ability to put his own interpretation on routines.
Now Aiden, who already holds the Junior Teen Showcase European Title which he won at championships in Holland in April, plans to move up to the adult section and compete in that.
He also plans to continue coaching line dancing at Frank Townsend Community Centre on Beach Road and to keep up with his studies in computing, electronics and maths.
He said: "I am absolutely delighted to have won this award and very surprised. I just wasn't expecting it.
"But I'm still keeping up with my college work and when I finish I hope to go to university or get a job in computing.
"My parents are thrilled to bits about my title and my mum keeps on telling everyone about it.".
Aiden's dad, Ian, added: "It is brilliant. The whole family is very proud of him especially when other people see him dance and say he is just a joy to watch."
