AFTER 21 years on the bench at Leigh Magistrates' Court, Arthur Johnson retired this week in the presence of almost 30 colleagues when he reached the magistrates age limit.
Tributes were paid by court staff, the Crown Prosecution Service, local solicitors, the police and colleagues.
Senior magistrate Mrs Irene Walmesley presented him with a plaque bearing the town's court of arms.
