AN EXTRAVAGANZA of music, dance, comedy and song is being staged at Lytham's Lowther Pavilion by Fylde's Mayor, Dawn Prestwich, to raise money for her chosen mayoral charities.
The Variety Command Performance, which is being produced by June Bell and compered by Rod Pothecary on February 21, will feature a wide range of local talent, including The Karen Hunter Dance Studio, singer Mandy Squire, violinist Helen Smith, The Nogal Players, Irene and David Phillips, Lytham St Annes High School jazz orchestra and Lytham Operatic Society.
But the audience will really be in for a treat in the second half of the show, when Dawn Prestwich and her husband John take centre stage with an act called Back to the Days of Old Time Music Hall.
Then the whole audience will be able to join in as Dawn and John lead the way with well-known classics.
At present Dawn and John, who have been well-known as singers on the Fylde for many years, are busy rehearsing, practising the songs and exercising their vocal chords for the variety performance.
Dawn said: "I'm looking forward to the night very much. I hope it will be a success and make some more money for the mayoral charities.
"At the moment I'm suffering a bit with a chest infection so I'm doing my best to get well for the big night.
"My husband John is looking forward to it too. It should have something for everybody. And there will be a chance for audience participation when we have a sing along in the tradition of old time musical."
Tickets/programmes for the Variety Performance are priced at £5 (£4 for concessions) and are available for the Tourist Information Centre and the Town Hall in St Annes and the County Information Centre and Lowther Pavilion Cafe in Lytham.
