YOUR anonymous correspondent, who accuses the council of "telling anything bar the truth" has got his or her own facts wrong.
We do put our and your house in order!
Most of our tenants look after their homes and pay their rent on time. A minority abscond leaving behind damage or unpaid rent behind. This is problem for all housing authorities. Audit Commission statistics show that Lancaster performs better than most in this respect. I can assure the responsible majority of tenants that we do pursue former tenants for their
debts. Where we cannot trace them ourselves we employ a carefully vetted agency. We take legal action to recover arrears if there is a reasonable prospect of success.
Last week you defended the right of your correspondents to anonymity. It should not be used as a cover for inaccuracy.
