ANGRY Lowerhouse council tenants are set to form a campaign group after a showdown with town hall bosses last night.
Around 100 residents voiced fury over the lack of investment on their estates over the last 30 years when they confronted housing chiefs at a public meeting in Ighten Leigh Club.
But there were few crumbs of comfort from Housing chairman Rafique Malik and senior officers as they explained there simply was no cash for home improvements anywhere in the town.
They could not even promise Lowerhouse would get its own neighbourhood office, like other areas of town.
But they did instill in residents a new determination to campaign for action, said joint organiser Karen Elliot.
"Last night we found many people prepared to fight for better conditions. We will be campaigning in future and a residents' group for Lowerhouse council tenants will be set up."
