AFTER seeing the article (LET, February 16) about traders being furious about gum on the streets of Clitheroe, let me say that it is not the only town which has this problem.
Having been to Singapore, I found that gum is prohibited there. It is not sold and nobody dare take it into the country. As a result, the streets are a credit to the island.
A ban in this country is the only way that we will revert to gum-free streets. No matter how much people ask it to be put in bins, you will find that there are plenty who will still spit it out.
STELLA WILSON, St Paul's Street, Clitheroe.
