THE matron of a nursing clinic which cares for people with Alzheimer's Disease has been suspended pending investigations into patient care.
Jackie Floyd, 40, was suspended on full pay ten days ago from Springfield Clinic, Preston New Road, Blackburn. She has worked there for six years and been matron for the last four.
The clinic provides general nursing and residential care, mostly for the elderly and also has a dedicated unit for elderly people who are mentally disordered, including those with Alzheimers.
Graham Jones, general manager of Crestacare GB Ltd, which runs the home, said: "There is more than one issue here and we are investigating matters reported both to myself and the authorities.
"The investigation of one issue has led to discussion of another. It is a fairly complex matter and Jackie Floyd is co-operating fully."
A note to residents and relatives by Crestacare's area manager explains that the matron has been suspended pending investigations but assures them that the service and care will not be affected.
An acting manager, Kath Rigby, has been appointed by the company to run the home during the investigations.
The matron has sought advice from the Royal College of Nursing.
RCN's Paul Gardner said she was still in discussions with her employer about the matter and refused to outline the allegations against her.
