A NUCLEAR bunker under an East Lancashire Cinema was the subject of plans to create an emergency centre in case of a Lockerbie or Hillsborough-type tragedy.
The bunker, below Clitheroe's historic Civic Hall Cinema, was built as a precaution against a nuclear attack.
But council chiefs agreed to spend £10,000 on converting the bunker, as the end of the Cold War meant the precaution against nuclear attack was no longer needed.
