CONTACT with other guide groups proved difficult when Nelson brownies and guides held their annual Thinking Day On The Air event on Saturday.
But they were able to get in touch with Florida in the United States and Newfoundland, Canada.
Brownie Keeley Terry and guide Victoria Brooks had the thrill of being enrolled over the airwaves by a guider in Canada.
The event is held each year at St Philip's, Nelson, but is open to all brownies and guides in the Nelson Division.
Members of Burnley and District Amateur Radio Society attend and help the youngsters tune in to far-flung groups.
Guider Sheila Spencer said: "It went very well but for some reason we didn't get as many contacts with other guides and brownies as we usually do.
"Perhaps it was something to do with weather conditions.''
During the times when contact proved difficult or impossible during the 11-hour period, the girls took part in a variety of international crafts and activities.
They were joined my members of the 451st Liverpool Guides who they invited to St Philip's after meeting them at summer camp.
