Morecambe 3 Northwich Victoria 0
MORECAMBE have an excellent chance to reach the final of the Spalding Cup after winning this match with ease.
Shrimps just need to hold their nerve in the second leg at Northwich Victoria on Monday, March 2 to be sure of a place in the final.
Andy Milner took just two minutes to score the first goal of the game. Brian Healy put Milner through with good pass from his own half. Milner raced through and lobbed the keeper to score a well worked and a well taken goal.
Goals two and three came in the first quarter of an hour of the second half.
Andy Grimshaw flicked on a corner for Kenny Mayers to head home in the 52nd minute. Grimshaw provided the next goal a few minutes later. John Norman jumped to nod the ball home.
Morecambe could have gone on to score more goals Shirley saw a good attempt blocked later on.
And in the first half Ian Monk looked to have been tripped up in the box after an excellent run.
Morecambe will face Hayes or woking if they make it to the final. An improved display by the Shrimps.
