Some memories are certainly short and it is all too easy to forget just what Lancaster was like before Labour took control of our council. I can certainly remember what it was like before. I remember the disastrous plan produced by the Conservatives to rebuild the whole of Lancaster centre. I can remember the mess that Morecambe was in - buildings and attractions closed and nothing being done. I also seem to remember a Conservative leader of the council opposing the building of the sports hall at Salt Ayre. Everybody makes mistakes and there is never a time when something does not go wrong. But what I don't remember is any local or national Conservative ever bothering to apologize!
My message to all those who send anonymous letters is this. The Labour council has transformed both Lancaster and Morecambe. We can all be proud of the wonderful developments at Salt Ayre. And where things have gone wrong, the council is willing to accept responsibility, to apologize if necessary and to put matters right.
