IN a home match at Moss Side, the Leyland team had a disappointing time when their defence let them down, but continued to attack the opponents whose defence was the stronger. Tries were from Jonathan Walker, man of the match Steven McDonald and Mark Quinn. Conversions were from Philip Campbell and top tackler Jamie Glover.
Westbank Bears 34 Warriors U11s 12
A trip to Runcorn ended with a disappointing result after a right first half, but gaps in attack and defence let Warriors down in the second half. The Leyland team still managed 12 points on the scoreboard which was down to Neel Byrom, who also converted, top tackler Phil Briggs and James Crowther who was player of distinction.
Oldham St Anne's 14 Warriors U13s 4
In a below par performance Warriors' attacking play let them down, with too many passes going astray. Good tackling came from top tackler Jim Johnson and man of the match Paul Lorenzen. The try scorer was John Cookson.
Ashton Bears 40 Warriors U14s 14
From the opening minutes of the game Warriors held their own against Ashton with a tight 8010 score at half-time, each matching the other side stride for stride. The opposition came back with a try in the first few minutes of the second half and the Leyland team did not respond which lost them the game. Tries were from Leigh Byrom, Paul Cowling and Simon Crowther. The conversion was from Paul Brown. Man of the match was Gary Watts and top tackler David Melling.
