A PRESTON man claims to have been waiting for over a year for a new heating system promised by his landlord.
Steve Rolfe, of The Paddock, received a letter from North British Housing Association (NBHA) in November last year telling him he would have central heating by April 1997.
Almost a year later and he is still waiting.
He said: "We were told they received £220,000 from the housing corporation and that they were going to give us a new heating system. So where's our heating and what's happened to the money?" Mr Rolfe who has had run-ins with North British in the past, and was awarded an out-of-court settlement two years ago following another dispute with the housing association, has now put the case to his local MP Nigel Evans.
He said: "I am sick and tired of ringing them and being put off. No one has give me any answers, they just don't want to know."
But NBHA press officer James Rea claims it's all a big misunderstanding.
He told the Citizen: "In the letter we sent out, it clearly stated the work would begin within the financial year starting April 1997."
He said the work will begin in March and claims the reason for the delay is the amount of unforeseen preparation work required for the installation job.
He said: "We have been working up to this for months. The work will begin in March because that's what we promised and it will be delivered."
North British Housing has also set up a show flat which will open within the next few months to show their tenants the new heating system.
