STUDENTS at a Pendle high school took to the stage to highlight the plight of people thousands of miles away.
Pupils at Edge End High, Nelson, took part in a drama entitled You, Me and Kashmir yesterday as part of a series of events across the borough to mark Kashmir Awareness Week. The production and the week are aimed at promoting public awareness of human rights and independence issues in the troubled region.
The event was launched at Nelson Town Hall on Monday by Bob Wells, father of Blackburn student Paul Wells who was taken hostage by Kashmiri militants in July 1995.
The play will be put on again at 11am on Saturday in a marquee in Nelson town centre. There will also be inter-faith prayers for peace in Kashmir.
