POLICE are hoping to catch a knife-wielding robber who terrified a Lancaster woman after a television appeal tonight.
The robber brandished a six inch blade at a lone female cashier at the Scotforth Road Filling Station near the A6. The woman handed over the cash and he ran off - but not before being caught on CCTV cameras.
The robbery took place at 7.50pm on Friday, February 6. He ran off from the shop across the forecourt onto the main A6 and continued in the general direction city centre.
There have been 12 similar crimes in Morecambe since January 1 and in some of them the robber has threatened to use a knife.
"We really want to catch this man, and appeal for anyone with any information to come forward," said a police spokesman.
The attacker is described as male, white, about 30 years, dark brown hair, brown stubble, wearing a dark coloured hat, black length coat and blue jeans. He had a North East accent which was not particularly strong.
