BUDDING boffins from around the country will be eavesdropping on the latest technology being used in the aerospace industry next month.
As part of BBC Radio Two's annual Science Week reporter Ruth Prince interviewed John Eastham from the manufacturing technology department at British Aersospace Samlesbury site.
The interview, to be broadcast during the week starting March 16, looked at the changing role of adhesives used in aircraft manufacture and how they have been developed over the past 50 years. "Since the end of the Second World War manufacturers have been developing adhesives to the point where they are now part of highly advanced materials such as carbon fibre composites," explained John.
"BAe is at the leading edge of this technology with carbon fibre composites being used on our current products such as Airbus and T45 Goshawk and even more extensively on future projects such as Eurofighter where strength and lightness are essential."
