OYEZ! Clitheroe is to host this year's National Town Criers' Competition.
A charter to host the event has been presented to Clitheroe Town Council and Ribble Valley Council by the Ancient and Honorable Guild of Town Criers.
The top competition will be held in Clitheroe for the first time and up to 40 town criers from across the country are expected to take part.
It will be held on May 23 at various points across Clitheroe, including at the town centre clock and the castle bandstand.
The charter was presented by Clitheroe town crier Roland Hailwood, who is a member of the guild.
He said it was an honour for Clitheroe and, although he would not be competing, he was looking forward to organising the event and being master of ceremonies on the day.
