BOLTON will have one foot back in Division One if they slip up at Spurs tomorrow and no one is more aware of the importance of the relegation scrap than Gudni Bergsson.
The 29-year-old Icelandic star returns to White Hart Lane as Wanderers skipper admitting: "This is our biggest match of the season."
Bergsson joined Bolton from Tottenham four years ago and has tasted high and lows with the unpredictable Wanderers.
"The position of the two sides shows just how vital this match is and we are up for it. Like Spurs we didn't expect to be down near the bottom and no one likes the situation we find ourselves in.
"We haven't won enough matches, that's the simple truth and we need to start putting that right immediately.
"I suppose it will be a bit special for me going back to an old club, but nothing will overshadow the game itself.
"We need to start winning some games and know we have a real battle on our hands.
"The fact that we experienced this sort of situation just a couple of years ago could help us - we just hope we get a different outcome.
"We are staying positive and I believe we have the quality within the squad to pull through. But it's going to take action not words. It's all well and good saying something, you have to be able to go out and prove it."
Bergsson's last visit to Spurs saw him score in a 2-2 draw.
"Not only did it give us our first away point that season but, funnily enough, it was my first-ever goal at White Hart Lane. I scored twice for Spurs but both of them were away from home," said Bergsson. "I don't care who scores on Sunday providing we play well and get a positive result. It's a big game and a crucial stage of the season for us."
Wanderers really need to take maximum reward tomorrow but their cause isn't helped by continuing problems caused by suspension and injury.
Ex-Rovers ace Scott Sellars is banned and Gerry Taggart, Robbie Elliott and Mike Whitlow are long-term casualties through injury. Mark Fish is still away on international duty at the African Nations Cup with South Africa.
Two draws in a row - one of them at Old Trafford - proves that Bolton still have some fight left in them, but defeat tomorrow could make the survival task a mission impossible.
Squad: Branagan, Cox, Fairclough, Todd, Bergsson, Pollock, Frandsen, Thompson, Johansen, Blake, Holdsworth, Gunnlaugsson, Phillips, Ward, Sheridan, Aljofree, Strong.
Jurgen Klinsmann is fit to return to the Tottenham team four weeks after fracturing his jaw.
Swiss defender Ramon Vega is still out through suspension and midfielder Stephen Clemence, having cleared a one- match ban, is now sidelined by an ankle injury he collected in the reserves on Wednesday.,
Goalkeeper Ian Walker has returned to full training after being out since early January with a shoulder injury but deputy Espen Baardsen is likely to continue on Sunday.
