LORRY driver Robert Briggs, who was airlifted to hospital after a dramatic five-hour rescue operation in Wales, has been discharged from hospital.
Mr Briggs was trapped in the crushed cab of his articulated Woolworths lorry after it smashed through a crash barrier and rolled down a 30ft slope before coming to rest on the edge of a 100ft drop in Powys, mid Wales, on Friday.
Firefighters used cranes and logs to support the trailer section while paramedics tended to Mr Briggs who suffered leg and wrist injuries.
Mr Briggs, 46, of Cambridge Street, Todmorden, was taken by County Air Ambulance to Selly Oak Hospital, Birmingham.
