A WEEK of events to raise awareness and highlight the plight of the people of Kashmir came to an end with a conference at Nelson Civic Theatre.
In Pendle, more than 5,000 people are of Kashmiri heritage and so it was fitting that the borough should lead the way in the North West in trying to stop the atrocities in the country.
The week of events was organised by Pendle-based Kashmir Working Group and supported by Pendle Council and Amnesty International.
The father of Blackburn student and Kashmiri hostage Paul Wells, Bob Wells, had launched the events, which were concluded this weekend with the conference and witness and prayers for peace at Nelson town hall.
Students from Nelson's Edge End High School also performed a specially written drama You, Me and Kashmir.
