YOUNG Rovers midfield star David Dunn has been put on stand-by for the England under-18 squad who play France next week, bidding for a place in the European finals to be played in Cyprus this July.

England meet France in a two-legged play-off with the first game at Stockport next Thursday, followed by the return in Rodez on April 23.

The French are favourites for the whole tournament but England have nine players with first-team experience in the squad, including Danny Cadamarteri, of Everton, and Newcastle's Andy Griffin.

TICKETS for the Premiership game against Barnsley, re-arranged for Tuesday, March 31 (kick-off 7.45pm), are now on open sale.

It is a category B game and prices are £16-20, concessions where available £10.

FANS who have a ticket stub from either home game against Leicester or Barnsley can now buy a seat for the Premiership clash with Manchester United on Monday, April 6 (8pm).

Rovers have brought in the restriction to reward loyal supporters and also to help minimise potential infiltration into home areas by visiting fans. The United match is a category A game, with prices £19-23 and concessions £10 where applicable.

One stub from either Leicester or Barnsley entitles the holder to buy one United ticket.

THE Reserves are in action on Tuesday night when they play Everton at Widnes RL (7pm). They will only have one more away game after that, the crunch showdown with title rivals Leeds at Halifax Town's Shay on Wednesday, April 1 (7pm).

Rovers finish their Pontin's League programme with three successive home matches - Nottingham Forest (April 8, 7pm), Birmingham (April 20, 7pm) and Aston Villa (May 4, 2pm).

Next Wednesday's provisional Lancashire FA Youth Cup semi-final tie against Everton at Ewood was put back again as the Merseyside club have a number of players away on international duty.

Rovers had originally pencilled in the county tie for the same night as a possible FA Youth Cup replay against Chelsea after having to wait some time for their opponents to be decided.

THE fixtures have been a farce this season - witness the present 17-day break - and there is only one Saturday home game remaining, Wimbledon on April 25.

Rovers entertain Barnsley on a Tuesday (March 31), Manchester United (April 6) and Arsenal (April 13) on Mondays and the final match of the season against Newcastle (May 10) is a Sunday.

There could be some improvement next season, especially where international dates are concerned, with fewer breaks.

The 1998-99 Premiership season, incidentally, kicks off on Saturday, August 15.
