STEVE WOODS, banned by Lancashire League side Colne, has been given the all-clear to resume his Cricket career with Read and will be available for their Vaux Ramsbottom Cup tie this weekend.
Woods was banned along with Darrell Halstead and given a one-year ban by Colne after a fracas at the club's 'Meet the Pro' night.
The suspension was set to be extended to other leagues after the Lancashire League upheld the suspension and informed the Lancashire Cricket Board.
But the league has apparently had a change of heart and, after discussions with Colne, will not try to stop Woods playing in the Ribblesdale League.
Read also hope that Halstead, who was given a life ban by Colne, will be available after an appeal the player is believed to have lodged with Colne against his punishment.
Regarding Woods, who could face Whalley on Saturday, Lancashire League secretary Rod Slater confirmed: "We have agreed that provided he pays his dues and demands to Colne that he can play. We did not want to stop him playing cricket."
