Morecambe 1 Farnborough 1 THIS result put paid to Morecambe's attempt to gain a top three place. At least Shrimps an excuse for their lacklustre performance in this match.
They had played out a 1-1 draw with Leek Town the night before and had Tuesday's big cup game at Woking on Tuesday night.
But the Christie Park men can still take great pride from this season with a club record in the Conference of 76 points, a national cup final win and a Lancashire final at Deepdale.
And they did well to gain a point against a Farnborough side battling to ensure their survival in the league.
Morecambe played Banks in goal and the second choice keeper kept the home side in the match several times as Farnborough pressured. Farnborough's frustration increased when Martin Rowlands blasted two excellent chances wide.
It came as a shock when Morecambe went in to the lead when Drummond showed his skill by taking the ball to the byline before laying the ball on for Shirley to bang in his 11th goal of the season.
But no-one could begrudge Boro their equaliser just after half time with a Rowland's header.
Morecambe were stronger in the second half without making many clear cut openings but they were cheated out of a clear penalty in the last minute when a Boro defender handled the ball.
