Dance fever is in the air in Preston this week as it plays host to two foot-stomping events.
The first, tonight (Thursday) at the hot and spicy Club Caliente, stars Mancunian salsa band Salsa Pa'Gozar.
The club, above El Tasca restaurant in Bow Lane, has developed a reputation as one of the trendiest places to learn to dance.
The Tequila-soaked crowd will be kicking off the evening at 7.30pm, with a beginners dance workshop until 9pm. Clubbers can practice their newly-learned steps for the next hour, when a DJ will keep the music flowing.
Then at 10pm, when they're warmed up, the Salsa Pa'Gozar will take the stage with their six-strong ensemble, led by timbale player Ric Parmgiani (also a percussionist with the Hall Orchestra).
But if you prefer the gun-slinging, Stetson-wearing style of country and western, call in at Preston's Oasis Dance Centre, at North Works, in Watery Lane, this Bank Holiday weekend.
From May 1-4, it's hosting a line dancing extravaganza. The event kicks off on Friday evening with a line dancing party, and rounds up on Monday night, with an appearance from top USA country singer Kimber Clayton.
The Oasis, Britain's first purpose-built Line Dance Centre, is the headquarters of Britain's longest-established country and western dance organisation, The British Western Dance Association. For tickets, call the centre on 01772 734324/721881.
Tickets for Club Caliente are £5, to book call 0966-390802 or 01257-412690.
