PINOCCHIO and Snow White were among the 'stars' who turned up at Sherwood Primary School as children celebrated World Book Day.
The students had a great time dressing up as their best-loved book characters and bringing in their favourite stories.
Even the teachers got involved with some of the more brave dressing up to join in the fun.
All classes spent most of the day creating books including poetry books, books of short stories and volumes investigating world wide issues.
They then had the chance to read sections of their favourite book to their friends before swapping them around.
A school spokeswoman said: "The children thoroughly enjoyed the day which was a tremendous success. They worked really hard with their costumes and were rewarded with a fun day."
She added: "It was an ideal opportunity for us to show our pupils that you can have fun with books - which they certainly did."
A fancy dress competition was later held in a special assembly which ended an entertaining day.
