THIS is the much-travelled Preston Citizen newspaper, pushed through a door 6,000 miles away in California.
The January 8 edition of our newspaper has found its way to Monterey - to former Preston resident Doreen Tovey.
Most of Doreen's family now live in the Hollywood state and were thrilled when they were sent a copy containing a picture of her Auntie Theresa and Uncle James.
The photograph showed Theresa Mercer and hubby James outside Preston Town Hall, when they married in the same year as the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh.
The Golden Wedding couple sent a copy of their favourite weekly to relations in the US, who passed it between each other.
Former Citizen employee Alan Barnes, Doreen's nephew, recently visited his relations in America for the first time and was amazed to see a Preston Citizen.
He said: "Who would have thought after travelling more than 16 hours to the other side of the world that I would see a Citizen?"
Doreen was delighted to see her auntie's picture - someone she hadn't seen for 16 years.
She said: "It makes up for last year's disappointment, when I was over in England but Teresa and James were in holiday."
Now, thanks to the Citizen, she has the chance to say hello to her auntie.
Teresa said: "Hearing from Doreen has made my day. I'm so delighted that the Citizen was able to reach my relations."
She is now looking forward to seeing her auntie in this week's edition.
