Does anyone remember 'surfer' Bill ANYONE out there remember Bill Harrison?
The former Pilks worker broke off from snow-shovelling at his home in Canada to cast a message on the Internet. And while 'surfing' with his computer, Harry Thompson of Hillside Close, Billinge, was intrigued to see it pop up on screen.
Harry, well-known angler and golf buff, has never met Bill. So he's passed on the info to see whether anyone else can oblige.
Bill's message reads: "Greetings from Georgetown, Ontario. I was born and raised in Tarn Grove, Clinkham Wood, between 1943 and 1968. After attending Windle CE primary school from 1948 until 1955 (remember teacher Ernie Hackney?) I then went to Rivington Road School until 1981. R. B. Jones was my favourite teacher."
Bill worked at Pilkington's Ravenhead and Sheet works, until leaving these shores to start a new life in Canada 17 years ago.
"After all that," Bill goes on, "somebody must recognise who I am. I'd like to hear from whoever." He'd particularly welcome news of any school reunions.
BILL'S e-mail address is: BillH at Allelix.com. Aternatively, any of his old buddies could write to me at the Star and I'll pass on their greetings.
