A YOUNG deer died after being injured on razor wire surrounding a depot in Bury.
Keen-eyed workmen helped rescue the rare roe deer from the Transco depot at Bury Bridge.
But, despite urgent veterinary treatment and care, the deer died of shock and blood loss after the accident on Monday.
Inspector Brian Oxley of the RSPCA was called to the scene after the injured deer was spotted by Transco store keeper Mr Vincent Gugniewicz.
It was taken in a trailer to Armac Veterinary Clinic in The Rock, but died hours later.
Mr Oxley said: "There are a couple of roe deer around Bury, although it is very unusual to see them, they normally keep their cover.
"It probably got in to the compound somewhere on Wood Street, then it tried to jump out, but the walls are quite steep and it got caught on the razor wire."
