A MYSTERY blaze destroyed a large quantity of fibre glass moulds and a 46ft trailer at a Bury construction company.
Investigations into Wednesday (April 29) evening's blaze at Barnes Construction in Wellington Street are continuing in a bid to pinpoint its cause.
A total of 850 fibre glass moulds, used for car park ceiling concrete work, were ravaged in the fire.
They were contained aboard a 40ft flat-back trailer located in the rear yard of the premises.
The intense heat generated by the blaze also damaged part of a nearby portable cabin.
Fire crews spent almost four hours at the scene after the alarm was raised.
Mr Geoff Boothroyd, plant manager, said an excavator was deployed to help clear the burning equipment during the firefighting operation. He said: "At this stage, we don't know what caused the fire," he said. "There are certainly no electrics in the yard.
"The fibre glass moulds were on the flat-back trailer, waiting to go out to a contractor."
He was unable to determine the value of the moulds. "They were second hand. To buy them new costs between £65-£70 each."
Firefighters had to force their way through the locked gates before they could tackle the outbreak.
