Sleuths clock up another success OUR ever-dependable sleuths have clocked up another success.
Remember how Sue Hurst of Bolton had asked if anyone could provide her with any details about her timepiece-making ancestor from St Helens?
His name was Matthew Tootell. And a perfect example of his craftsmanship - a magnificent and rare grandfather clock - ticks away in the Mayor's Parlour inside St Helens Town Hall. Sue had located it there and this further whetted her appetite to learn more.
Now, in expressing her gratitude for that earlier mention on this old page, she joyfully reports that two readers (one from St Helens and the other from Shevington) have contacted her with useful info about her 19th-century forebear.
SO glad to have been of service, Sue lass!
