THE war dead in East Lancashire will be remembered at a special parade to commemorate the anniversary of D Day.
Members of the Queen's Lancashire Regimental Association will march through Blackburn town centre on May 23.
The veterans, who will include many from World War Two, will be led by the band of the Lancastrian Brigade and the Corps of Drums.
The parade will leave the town hall in Blackburn at 10am and make its way along King William Street to Debenhams, back along Northgate and Town Hall Street before finishing in front of Marks and Spencer.
Veterans wanting to take part should meet outside the old town hall between 9.30am and 9.45am.
During the morning, the band will play in concert in King William Street.
People will also be able to sign a book of remembrance to honour the East Lancashire soldiers who died in World War Two.
In August, the regimental association is taking a group of veterans to Bois Halbout, in Normandy, France, for the inauguration of a large stone memorial dedicated to the men of the regiment who lost their lives in the liberation of the village in 1944.
