THE lovingly-tended pitch at Turf Moor looks more like a moonscape as workmen prepare the surface for an upgrade.
Burnley fans jumped at the chance to buy their own piece of the former pitch at £1 a piece before work started.
Supporters came from all over the country to pick up a keepsake.
They ranged from people who do not have a garden to a man who wanted £100 worth to replace his lawn.
The whole pitch will be moved and relaid complete with a new irrigation system in a £200,000 scheme lasting five weeks.
