CONGRATULATIONS to Blackburn on qualifying for the UEFA Cup, but let's not think that all is rosy in the garden.

It was a very fraught end to a season that could have ended in total disappointment had they not won the last match.

The last half of the season has been very short of pace in the centre of defence. The midfield I think will have to be be taken apart and put back together. Perhaps Billy McKinlay and Garry Flitcroft don't match quite together in the middle and we definitely need cover for the top two strikers.

Maybe we can't attract Gazza or Del Piero but we've probably to look for other players who have yet to make their name. We were caught woefully short at Leeds when Hasselbaink ripped us apart and that should be a lesson for the rest of next season. But, having said, that let's think that we at Blackburn are very lucky to be able to go and see the Leeds, Liverpool and Aston Villas of this world and we thank Jack Walker for making it possible.

But keep it tempered by the fact that we still need to improve the squad and go forward and hopefully make a 100 per cent title challenge next season.

I WOULD like to say thank you very much to Jack Walker, Roy Hodgson and all the team for a very very good season and I'd like to knock all these moaners and groaners that we have had in the Lancashire Evening Telegraph all season.

If they want to moan and groan why don't they go to Turf Moor where they will have something to moan about.
