BUSINESS failures in the region have dipped slightly.
The number of receivership and administration appointments recorded by accountants Deloitte & Touche in April fell from 16 to 13.
The total for the first four months of 1998 is now 59 compared to 63 in the same period in 1997.
"There is a lot of talk about an economic downturn being just around the corner," said corporate recovery partner John Wilson.
"However that hasn't translated into large increases in the number of business failures yet. Our advice to North West businesses remains to proceed with caution."
