ROSSENDALE choirs were in fine voice as they swept the board at Morecambe Music Festival.
Songsters from the Ladies' Choir took first prize in every class they entered on Choral Competition Day and the Male Voice Choir also won their section.
And when the two choirs combined as Rossendale Festival Choir, they triumphed in the mixed class. Between them the Rosendale songsters won every one of the 11 trophies in the festival competitions - a unique occasion for one conductor, Beatrice M. Wade, who was herself awarded two trophies for her achievements.
In fact it was a demanding day for Beatrice, who formed Rossendale Ladies Choir in 1977 and has conducted it ever since.
She led with the baton for a total of 22 competition pieces during the day, all demanding a wide variety of technical accuracy and sensitivity.
Her major reward was the Silver Rose Bowl - the highest award in the competition - and a superb 21st birthday present for the choir.
