A BATTERED and badly-bruised pensioner is still in hospital a week after being mugged by two thugs in Accrington.
Detectives today renewed their appeal for witnesses to the vicious street robbery which happened at 1.35pm in Scaitcliffe Street.
The 84-year-old woman, who suffered a dislocated shoulder, is in Blackburn Infirmary.
Police said the pensioner needed stitches for three or four gashes on her forehead and has bruises on her face and arms.
Detectives were due to visit her in hospital again today to try and piece together more information about the attack when her handbag containing a brown leather purse and £20 was stolen.
Two Asian youths, aged between 16 and 18, were seen running along a path off Scaitcliffe Street and climbing over a railway bridge on to the track heading away from Accrington.
Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to contact Accrington CID on 01254 382141.
