IT HAS been reported that the anticipated anti-Xanadu demonstration at the recent WMBC planning meeting 'fizzled out', giving the impression that the campaign had lost some impetus.
It is hardly surprising that the attendance was low given that the meeting was held in Wigan during the working day, which precluded many people from attending.
Those who were there would have heard Cllr John Lea's speech in which he referred to Leigh as a 'muddy little village'. I find this remark most insulting. How can we respect these people who describe our town in such a derogatory manner?
The campaign against this development is as strong as ever, as can be seen from the election results where the Green Party/local residents against Xanadu vote has increased substantially since the previous by-election.
Labour has won this battle but we will win the war!
